About the planter kit
The Aquatic Circle planter kit is a functional part of the filtration system, not a decorative add-on.
As aquarium water flows through the system, plant roots are exposed to nutrient-rich water. As the plants grow, their roots absorb nutrients, helping manage excess nutrients in the aquarium over time.
The planter is designed to sit above the aquarium waterline and supports common freshwater plants used in aquaponic and riparian setups.
Plant selection
Aquatic Circle works best with fast-growing, freshwater-friendly plants that tolerate consistent moisture around the roots.
Common choices include:
• Pothos
• Peace lily
• Spider plant
• Philodendron
• Other houseplants commonly used in aquaponic setups
Plants are not included, allowing you to choose species that fit your space and preferences.
Does the planter replace filtration media?
No. The planter kit is one stage of the Aquatic Circle filtration system.
On tanks up to 20 gallons, Aquatic Circle can serve as the primary filtration system. On larger aquariums, the planter functions as a plant-based filtration stage that works alongside mechanical and biological filtration.
Maintenance and care
Plant maintenance is minimal and similar to standard houseplant care.
• Trim roots as needed to prevent overgrowth
• Rinse filtration components during routine maintenance
• Replace or adjust plants based on growth and preference
Regular aquarium maintenance is still recommended.
Safety and compatibility
• Designed for freshwater aquariums only
• Safe for fish, plants, and invertebrates when installed and maintained as directed
• Not intended for saltwater or reef aquariums
